Repeat rows 2 - 9 three more times to form pattern (four complete diamonds), then repeat rows 2 - 5.

Work should now be roughly 16 in in length.

Larger sizes: if you need this piece to be longer (for a larger size, repeat rows 2 - 9 as needed - making sure that you finish with a row 5 - and write down the number of repeats).

DO NOT CAST OFF.

Create armhole

Using yarn from another ball: attach yarn to htr at edge of 3rd 3ch sp from edge (roughly 9in from edge), 33ch, sl st to htr at far edge of 3rd ch sp from attachment point. Cast off added chain.

Back

Repeat row 6 - but when you reach the added chain for the armhole (shown in red above), stitch across the ch treating the ch as if they were the ch and htr from the previous row (row 5).

Repeat row 7 - 9.

Repeats rows 2 - 9 five more times to form pattern (five complete diamonds), then repeat rows 2 - 5.

Work should now be roughly 21 in in length. DO NOT CAST OFF.

Smaller sizes: only repeat rows 2 - 9 four more times, then repeat rows 2 - 5. This should reduce the back measurement by roughly 3in.

Larger sizes: if you need this piece to be longer (for a larger size, repeat rows 2 - 9 as needed - making sure that you finish with a row 5).

Create armhole

Making sure that you measure from the same edge as before!!

Using yarn from another ball: attach yarn to htr at edge of 3rd 3ch sp from edge (roughly 9in from edge), 33ch, sl st to htr at far edge of 3rd ch sp from attachment point. Cast off added chain.

Right front

Repeat row 6 - but when you reach the added chain for the armhole, stitch across the ch treating the ch as if they were the ch and htr from the previous row (row 5).

Repeat row 7 - 9.

Repeats rows 2 - 4 four times giving four complete diamonds (or to match the number of repeats you wrote down when creating left front).

Finish with row 2.

Cast off - or add optional edging.

Finishing - optional but recommended

Edge the whole outer edge of the rectangle with one even row of htr - 3htr into each corner to create corner.

Edge each armhole with htr, spreading evenly.
